Howard Gerry is an Artist, Designer and Educator based in Toronto, Canada.
He has been creating works of art for more than 40 years. On this site you
will see a small sample of the variety of works that he has created. These
works have been shown both nationally and internationally and are in a
variety of public, corporate and private collections.
From fanciful mono prints to holographic works in which the fragility and
instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned, Gerry has always
used a conceptual approach, developing forms that do not follow logical
criteria, but are based on subjective associations and formal parallels. Fiction
and reality meet, well-known tropes merge, meanings shift, past and present
fuse. Time and memory always play a key role. By applying a poetic and
often metaphorical language, Gerry encourages the viewer to make new
associations and to develop a personal engagement with the work.
